Five Years on the GovTech 100: Innovations in Civic Tech

coUrbanize GovTech 100

This week, coUrbanize was named to Government Technology’s GovTech 100 list for 2020. We were on the inaugural GovTech 100 list that debuted in 2016 and have made the cut every year since – something we’re incredibly proud to say.

This speaks to the ongoing work that we’re doing in partnership with our municipal customers that span all sizes of cities and towns – from the city of Detroit to the Massachusetts town of Ashland. Local governments are often first to test-drive new technologies and adopt new approaches. According to research from Government Technology, local governments spent more of their IT budgets on software-as-a-service and cloud solutions than state and federal governments did in 2019.

When the GovTech 100 list was announced earlier today,  Dustin Haisler, Chief Innovation Officer of e.Republic (the publisher of Government Technology), made a strong prediction for 2020: that government technology experiences will mature, going beyond the basics of a functioning city/town website to leverage technology that engages citizens in new, exciting and more intuitive ways. coUrbanize lets towns and cities do exactly that by giving community members the opportunity to shape how their communities grow and evolve without having to attend public meetings.

The members of the 2020 GovTech 100 list are helping local governments transform how they work – from admin and finances to public works and transportation. We’re so excited to see what our cohorts achieve this year. Here’s to another year of investments, ideation, and innovation!
