In 2016, the MIT Investment Management Company (MITIMCo) launched a 7 to 10 year construction effort that will add 1 million square feet of new real estate in Kendall Square by transforming six parking lots into new residential, retail, and laboratory space, along with public open space. Even before they broke ground, the development team knew that the project would mean construction noise, traffic diversions, and other inconveniences for the people who live and work in Kendall.
