How the Portland Housing Authority scales communication to 3,000+ residents

About Portland Housing Authority

The Portland, Maine Housing Authority provides long-term affordable rental housing to over 3,000 families, seniors, and disabled individuals— close to 10% of the city’s population.

With the majority of their public housing communities built more than 50 years ago, the Housing Authority has embarked on the process of major renovations to increase energy efficiency, upgrade interiors, add resident service space, and improve accessibility.

Using coUrbanize, the Portland Housing Authority:

  • Keeps stakeholders informed about projects with up-to-date information available in one place
  • Allows residents to communicate questions or concerns directly with the development team
  • Alleviates the workload of property management staff to focus on other tasks

With coUrbanize, we’ve been able to manage community engagement for 180+ unit rehabilitation projects with just two relocation specialists. As our projects evolve, we are able to keep residents and the public informed in real time.
